...WHAT THE FLYING... NOOOOOOOOO! FUCK YOU MOUSE! FUCK YOU!

The worldwide leader in family entertainment is about to get a great deal more entertaining, as the Walt Disney Company agrees to acquire iconic comic book company Marvel Entertainment for $4 billion.

More than 5,000 iconic comic book characters will soon be in the hands of Disney, raising serious questions about the future of Marvel video game titles from Activision, Sega, THQ, and the upcoming MMO from Gazillion Entertainment. Under the terms of the agreement, Disney will pay Marvel shareholders $30 per share for their Marvel stock, plus .745 of a share of Disney stock for each share they own.

"This transaction combines Marvel's strong global brand and world-renowned library of characters including Iron Man, Spider-Man, X-Men, Captain America, Fantastic Four and Thor with Disney's creative skills, unparalleled global portfolio of entertainment properties, and a business structure that maximizes the value of creative properties across multiple platforms and territories," said Robert A. Iger, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company. "Ike Perlmutter and his team have done an impressive job of nurturing these properties and have created significant value. We are pleased to bring this talent and these great assets to Disney."

That's Disney's say on the matter, and here is Marvel's, from the official press release:

"Disney is the perfect home for Marvel's fantastic library of characters given its proven ability to expand content creation and licensing businesses," said Ike Perlmutter, Marvel's Chief Executive Officer. "This is an unparalleled opportunity for Marvel to build upon its vibrant brand and character properties by accessing Disney's tremendous global organization and infrastructure around the world."

Both companies have approved the deal, though it still has to clear the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act and various regulatory committees before it can be finalized. Once finalized, Marvel's Perlmutter will continue to oversee Marvel's properties, working with Disney to help integrate the two properties across multiple lines of business.

We're staying on top of the situation, with calls out to Disney, Marvel, Activision, THQ, and Sega for comment on what effects this move will have on Marvel-based video game properties.

    At this time and venture...
I just don't have anything to contribute to the conversation. People are getting jobs, people are having kids, people are getting married. I am happy for you all. I just don't have anything new that is of that light to share.

What do I have? New games. New books. A life that flows from one day to the next. I am a person of the moment...not the past, not the future. I remember, and I dream, but I just live for the now.

But you people...you who I call friends and those more than friends, sometimes closer than family, you I cherish.

(I feel old saying this, but..) I'm proud of you all. Honored really.

That's all I got for the moment. I'm somewhere at chapter 313 of Bleach. Onemanga.com runs me.

Also...I'm rereading Cerebus the Aardvark. I'm in Book 6 now. Jaka's Story. I'm pretty sure the nearer I get to the end, that I'll drink more with each page because honestly...-Cerebus is NOT a story for kids. It is a very sad tale in it's completion, but a hell of a journey.-

    Until later,
    Az - signing out.

    Marriage...who cares anymore
California and states that ban same-sex marriages are stupid: Why? Because California is trying to ban the law now -BUT- Grandfather those already married. So it's like, you guys we recognize, just no new ones. What kinda wishy washy decision is that? Either you acknowledge or you don't.

    Birthday Schwag
Even though I'm 30...I still like toys

Sunshine got me an Insp 1525 notebook (go look up specs), Chuck Season 1 (funnny as hell, love it), Mike n Ikes (good candy, eat it), a classic Superman Action Comic's T-shirt, Lost Odyssey for 360 (which I'm now playing), this kick-ass Discworld Graphic Novel which has the first two books. (the artwork is awesome and just as I visioned it), these batman candies with "Zypping" action...haven't tested those yet. She's too kind to me.

Darshu got me SF4 (YOU KNOW YOU WANT THE PAIN) and Resident Evil 5 (first RE that I've played and enjoyed, have't played 4)

Parents got me some lovely smoked turkey, brothers gave me cash and a xbox360 (it's what we do, the cash..not just giving people 360's. If I could do that, I'm sure I'd be invested in M$ by now).

Good haul for a 30 year old.

    Sunshine and I have....
...well, finally, I've been able to sit down and watch Nightmare Before Christmas and Corpse Bride. Of the two, I prefer Corpse Bride. I just didn't see it as great as it could have been. But then, I have odd tastes. Though, I did enjoy the hell out of Sweeney Todd.

    WOO HOO! Red Dwarf!!!
"Everyone's favorite live-action science fiction comedy series will finally return to TV, with Lister, Rimmer, Kryten and the Cat all making it to Earth. The new two-part series Red Dwarf: Back to Earth will appear on digital channel Dave, will be written and directed by Red Dwarf co-creator Doug Naylor, and will reunite the line-up. 'It will sit alongside two further new episodes — the improvised Red Dwarf: Unplugged, which will feature the cast dealing with no sets, effects or autocue, and Red Dwarf: the Making of Back to Earth, a behind the scenes look at the new production.' Personally, I think this is pretty smegging fantastic."

    Remember that Economic Stimulus Check?
    http://www.consumerismcommentary.com/2009/01/02/filing-your-2008-taxes-with-the-economic-stimulus-recovery-rebate-credit/

it was an advance on your 2008 Tax return you file this year.

It wasn't exactly or clearly stated to the American tax payer. So if you get less, now you know why.
